Faster Policies Page

We have released some performance enhancement for the Policies page, resulting in a substantial reduction in loading times.

Our testing has shown a significant 88% improvement in loading time for Policies page.

Enhancements

• Rescan Consistency: Improved the user experience during the rescan process. The "Scan Report" and "Tracking Sources" sections now display a consistent "loading" state while the scan is in progress.
• Enhanced Cookie Banner: Implemented <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow"> in the cookie banner for improved SEO.
• Category Opt-out Functionality:
  • We have enhanced category opt-out functionality in the Preference Center.
  • Checkbox label now accurately reflects the opt-out action ("Click here to opt-out of all {} services").
  • Clicking the category opt-out checkbox now correctly disables all associated service checkboxes.
  • Consent preferences are now correctly stored after opting out of a category.

Bug Fixes

• Corrected Billing Instruction: Fixed incorrect billing instruction banner for Free accounts on the domain settings screen.
• Disabled Select Button: Disabled the "Select" button in the domain selection dropdown when only one domain exists.
• Security Patch: Fixed a vulnerability related to Session Management

Subscription Flow Updates

• Enabled self-service account reinstatement for frozen accounts.
• The updated Account Deletion Policy for the Free Plan now applies to accounts created over 60 days ago with no consent recorded within the last month. 
• These accounts will be subject to deletion if either the first script is not installed or if the first script is installed but there has been no activity on the Secure Privacy platform within the last 60 days.
• Revamped some logic related to frozen accounts and fixed the bugs that we found along the way

Memory Leak Investigation

• Investigated the root cause of high memory usage. 
• Determined that the issue was not related to cache size.
• Identified potential memory leak: Observed increasing memory usage after deployments, culminating in 80% memory utilization and subsequent disk swapping.

Banner Customizations, anyone?

• We have worked on adding a couple of more abilities to our already awesome Cookie Banners. Refer the our linked support articles to know how to use Custom CSS and Custom Fonts

Other Enhancements

• The GCM Advanced section now only displays after GCM Advanced Framework is enabled.
• Removed restriction for scanning when adding a new domain
• Previously, scanning was not automatically triggered upon adding a new domain. 
• This enhancement streamlines the onboarding process and provides users with immediate insights into their website's privacy compliance.

Billing Change: Immediate Charges Upon Card Addition

In response to customer feedback, we've updated our billing process. Now, when you add a new card to your account, you will be charged immediately, even if you are still within your trial period.

Previously, charges were delayed until the trial ended.

Please ensure you are on the correct plan before adding your credit card to avoid any unnecessary charges or refund requests.

Trust Widget Visibility Control

Google Consent Mode (GCM) "Deny" Preference Now Prioritises EEA and UK

In line with Google's guidelines, our consent banner implementation now respects geographic-based controls for Google Consent Mode.

This means the "Deny" preference will primarily apply to users within the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom, ensuring stricter adherence to their privacy regulations.

Subscription Model Enhancement

Fixed an issue where payment collection in Stripe did not resume correctly after a trial period ended and the account was unfrozen.

Domain Framework Not Set Correctly When Adding New Domain

We addressed a problem where the selected domain framework wasn't being set in the respective API, resulting in all new domains defaulting to the current default framework (GCM advanced).

Cookie Banner UX Enhancements:

We've improved the user experience of our cookie banner by fixing unnecessary scrolling issues and adjusting padding for a cleaner look and feel.

Updated Installation Instructions for Joomla and Wordpress from Domain -> Installation Screen

This release made an update to the Joomla and Wordpress installation instructions, accessible from Domain -> Installation screen.

Google Consent Mode Messaging

For Google Consent Mode compliance, Secure Privacy recently deployed a new legal template.

This template ensures transparency by explaining data collection purposes, linking to Google's privacy policy, and providing an affirmative consent option.

Adding Support for Joomla during User Onboarding 

We worked on adding Joomla plugin recently, with this release, our new users can seamlessly integrate with Joomla during the onboarding process.

• Improved clarity and formatting: We've refined the appearance and content of DSAR request emails for better readability and professionalism.

Enhanced Feature Comparison on Pricing Page

Added Alphabetical Sorting on Domains -> Installation Page

We've made finding your preferred integration even easier! The dropdown menu is now sorted alphabetically for quick access.

Today, we have released some enhancements to our Monthly Cookie Scanning engine.

If there are any new or removed cookies on your website:

• New Cookie Detected: You'll receive an email alert if we discover a new cookie on your website. This email will guide you to classify the cookie to ensure compliance and avoid potential functionality issues.
• Cookie No Longer Detected: An in-app notification will appear if a previously detected cookie is no longer present. This helps you monitor changes and maintain your website's functionality.
• Your aggregated scan report will be refreshed after each scan, providing you with the most up-to-date information. Going forward, we'll only generate aggregated reports for new scans
  

Domain Settings Update: Select Google Consent Mode - Advanced

We've updated the domain settings menu: you can now specifically select "Google Consent Mode - Advanced" within the framework choices.

Enhanced "Other Request" Form: Requires User Input and Prevents Auto-Closure

We've made improvements to the "Other Request" form in our consent banner:

• Users are now required to enter a message in the text area before submitting their request.
• The banner will no longer automatically close after submission, allowing users to confirm their request was sent successfully.

Putting the "Grammar" in "Programmer" (Or At Least Trying To)

We've been busy playing grammar police with our app! We've caught a few typos and smoothed out some sentences, so you can enjoy a more polished reading experience.

Scan Report Behavior: SSL Requirement for Expiration Information

In order for the Scan Report page to display expiration details for your domain's SSL certificate, the domain must have SSL enabled. If SSL is not enabled, the expiration information will not be shown in the report.

We've also squashed some more bugs and made a few tweaks under the hood.
